Hi all,

I had a Canon powershot and despite there being an issue with the CCD sensor they wont recognise a recall on my model - repair is costly (circa £120) and many have gone wrong 6 months later and they only guarantee for 3 months!! If I had an IXUS I would be covered! Go figure!

So I need a new camera - I wont buy canon again. Have heard lots of good things about the panasonic lunix range but unsure what to get - open to any other make.

I dont need video as we have an HD camcorder

Zoom is key as we will be going on safari etc

Stability control would be good

Dont want to spend much over £200.

DMC TZ7 has been recommended - any one have this camera?

Thanks for all your help!

I can't be specific, but Panasonic always seem to do well. The fact that Leica are prepared to put their badge on Panasonic products must count for something too.

have a look at the panasonic TZ6 it has a smaller (two and a half inch) lesser quality screen than the TZ7 and no hd video option , but has the same 12x leica lens and internals as the 7 but only costs £239 which is a small amout over what you want to spend , however if you can run to £299 then the bigger (three inch) higher quality screen on the TZ7 is worth the extra money imo, and although you have a camcorder the hd function on the 7 would still come in usefull
