Has anyone had any success fitting a slide out 7in. screen like this one into the dashboard of the Lotus Elise series one?

I know it might be a bit ugly but, I quite fancy using the DVB-T as an alternative to DAB and having the advantage of satnav as well. If I fit this specific unit I suspect it will look quite ugly as the unit will protrude about 1.6cm beyond the edge of the dash but then again: "it may be ugly but it does the job", as my wife is fond of telling me . . .

You have to be careful that it has enough clearance to clear the overhang above the stereo recess, although the S1 is much easier than the S2 in that respect. Otherwise there shouldn't be a problem.

It is possible to fit a slide out screen but will require some customistion as i found when i wanted to fit my Alpine NVE-099 fixed Sat Nav into my Exige S2, which required an Alpine touch screen to work.

SCR Audio who fitted it all for me, had to design a custom surround/cage for the unit to sit in, as it had to be moved forward by at least an inch (compared to where the face of the standard head unit is positioned) to ensure the screen didn't catch on the dash overhang when it opened.

These are the best pics i've got of the setup fitted

my S1 can't get FM with the engine running so I imagine DVB-T would be useless.

There are fixes: easiest and cheapest is to turn your light on - might help. Seriously!
After that you're into improving the screening under the boot lid.
