Dynamic headlight range control faulty (A4 B6)

Apologies if this is a repost, but the search function is down, I've had a google too, and can't seem to find much info.

Basically, I have the Dynamic headlight range control faulty symbol pop up on the DIS every so often, but it appears to be more frequent since I changed the sidelight bulb which went (though I did not remove the headlight cluster), anyone else had this problem? It seems to go off after a couple of mins of driving, and only comes back on when the car has been left for a few hours. I'm wondering if it is just getting stuck once the car has cooled down, anyone managed to solve this problem themselves? Anyone know what the mechanism to control the range is like?
