Can a PDF be posted like a picture?

As per the title, can a PDF file be posted like a picture?

I've not seen others doing it, so I'm guessing not.

Photobucket doesn't let me upload a PDF.

Sometimes it would be useful to post a PDF like a picture.

So, do I need a new host for my pictures, if so, who hosts PDF's?

Can I use the new PH picture host feature?

When I tried using the new PH 'Upload an image' I got this message.

Upload Failed. Unable to get image info - Check that file is an image. Go back and try again.

What tags do I need to display a PDF if it's hosted off the PH site?

If we can't currently embed a PDF, will it be done in the future please?

At present my best work around is to open the PDF, run the Windows snipping tool, grab the bit I want as a JPG and post that. It's messy and if the required bit spreads over two or more pages then it requires several images to be posted. If it's something that the Acrobat search tool would help the reader find the bit they want, this is lost.

Anyone got a better workaround?

Can't you just insert a link to the file?

As far as I know Adobe's browser plug-ins don't support in-line rendering so it's not possible.

You could try these guys and then link to the hosted file in your posts:

Unforutnately you can't use the same techniques for PDF as you would for images on the site.

Do you have pdf writer software ? And does it allow you to "save as" ie jpeg ?

Then you can insert as normal for an image.

Use tools menu in top right of main bar, "snapshot" - then simply highlight the bit you want, paste in to ms-paint, et voila (thats how I do it, anyway)
