Hi all,

The 360 is on the blink. After about 2-3 minutes of booting up a game the screen will go a mix of blue and purple fuzzy. (or just blue in some games)

The fact it take 2-3 mins suggests its a heat thing. I've used the AV lead on a mate's xbox and it was fine (for hours upon hours actually) and its doing the same with 4 games so far (Fable 2, Fifa 09, Assassin's Creed and Forza 2)

So I should be expecting a RROD to appear, but the thing is I'm not playing it at the moment cos of the problems. Should I just leave it on? Wrap it in clingfilm and leave on? Also do I need a receipt to get it fixed under warrenty?

Cheers

This is exactly what went wrong with my xbox.

And this issue has actually recently been added to the 3-year warranty.

All you need to do is go to www.xbox.com, register your console (serial no. by the USB ports on the front) and it'll know when you bought it etc. The error code you'll need to quote is 'E74' - mine received a black screen with this error a few times before returning back to how you described. So when you submit your repair form, mention you've had the E74 screen but it's since returned to the purple/blue fuzzyness.

info:
E74: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969905
Register console: https://service.xbox.com/servicehome.aspx?mkt=en-g...
