S Club Heaven 2010.......
Discussion
Hi everyone
I'm sure some of you are opening this thread with eager anticipation of seeing some details of next years S Club.... Well I'm sorry to disappoint you because the actual purpose of this thread is to see who out there would like to step forward and organise next years event.
Dave M, Mycroft, Barkychoc, Gozzy and myself have pulled together the last two, but for various reasons we have each decided to take a break in 2010. Don't get me wrong, it's not because we have not enjoyed it - we have! - but circumstances, family, work commitments etc all change over time. We also think it would be a good to see some different ideas and fresh (well, fresher!) faces.
I have a list of tasks that we have developed and worked to over the last 2 years, which has helped us a lot. I'd happily pass this on to someone so you will already have a structure to work to, reminders of things not to forget, a list of key contacts, etc.
It's not difficult to do, especially if there are a couple of you to share tasks around, and the earlier you start the easier it will be.
The reason for posting this now is that I, and the organisers of other annual TVRCC events, have received an email from Sharon Blanchard (part of the TVRCC events team). In it she said;
Now … 2010 … as most of you are aware the January edition of Sprint is when the events team makes their big ‘splash’ announcement for the year ahead, so get your thinking caps on. Nick and I will be in touch in October to ask you to start submitting your event details, just like we did last year. We will also ask you to keep a lid on things until the January Sprint gets published so all the release information is in synch making a great impact, and of course that also means that non-web users get the 2010 news at the same time as the web users.
There is no huge urgency to have the details ready for the January issue (we haven't in the last 2 years so I wouldn't worry!!) but the sooner something is arranged the less likelyhood there will be of it clashing with another event.
I, and I'm sure Dave M, Mycroft, Barkychoc & Gozzy, will be available to offer support while the event is being organised, and will also be prepared to help out on the day if necessary.
So, get your thinking caps on and don't be scared!! Feel free to PM me with any questions if your not sure about "going public" at the moment
Cheers for now,
Longers

I bought a set of these for son in law for Christmas as a starter set - there is a lot of rubbish in the set to make up the 235 items, but the £50 is worth it for the sockets (the ratchets are cheap but work) which are wall drive and cover most applications, the spanners and the toolbox, if you allow £15 for all the other stuff which is ok as second items and better qulity will also be needed. It is true you get what you pay for , but these are not bad and the best value for money out there I believe (and I looked around) as a starter kit.
Note: they are definately not for the professional and will not last your whole life.
