Help!! My cars broke!
Discussion
I had to be recovered home today by the AA as she won't start. I had been for about 30 miles when she started to miss a bit, then started to miss a lot, then some back fires and then conked.
AA man says there is no feed to the fuel pump when you turn the ignition, also he checked and there is no spark and no volts at the injectors either. He thinks it's the ECU. I've checked the yellow connector and that's already been bypassed and i've checked the big multi plug between the V's. I thought at first it could be a fuel pump relay? I've checked all the fuses and there ok? Now i'm worried-please help get the beast running and happy again!!!

Take a look at the injector relay, the red one, and check that it's working properly. I did try to work it out from the circuit once and I think that one is linked to both the fuel pump and ignition circuit. You can pop the caps on the relays quite easily and then also check that they look clean inside, just mark the cap so you know which way round it fits.
Theres a connection whereby the red wire from fuse P splits to feed the wires to the fuel inj and fuel pump relays is it a good connection? may have pulled apart??
if its broken then even if the ECU fires/powers the relay there will be no feed through their contacts
I only doubt the ECU as being the problem as they are usually passive components I think and therefore dont tend to faulter before they fail, they just go, yours didnt it faultered as though something was detaching, if you follow my logic.

Been at the garage all morning, we have got a little further thanks for your replies. We now have the fuel pump priming on ignition, we seem to have a spark at the plug, we have pulsing power on a test lamp to the injectors, i've put more fuel in and still nothing- no firing at all.
Traced 1 problem to the fuse box, the bottom left fuse was badly fitting so changed that along with the bottom right, all controlling pump relays i think. We've given up for now but it seem to have something to do with ignition but what???

Are the plugs actually wet?
If not, you still have a fuel supply issue. If they are, you have an ignitino issue or maybe just need some clean plugs. So if you reckon everything else looks OK, put the battery on charge and bung some new clean plugs in it. For extra brownie points in cold weather you can heat them up first and fit them hot, but this time of year it's hardly likely to matter.

Just for interest really, i've got the S back. She needed a new fuel pump! also a new coil as they thought it was geeting weak. Now i've got to sort all the interior out again as they had all the wiring out to sort the problem and of course while she was going away she boiled over so i guess i'll be checking fuses and relays still. Oh well as swmbo tells me it is a labour of love?!
