COD4 is 99% about the online, the offline mode is average at best IMO. The online is brilliance beyond all proportions.

Get whichever one your mates have, or the PS3 one if you aren't going to be getting XBL.

Then add the PH online squadron.

Both versions are identical. Get what your mates have.

Said it before and I'll say it again, if the PS3 is free and the X-Box you have to pay to go on-line, then PS3.... Of course, there appear to be far more PS3 players on PH (Me included) soooooo you'll get to join in all the games on here with a PS3.......

Whichever controller suits you best, 360 in my case.

I'm sorry, but that's just rubbish.

As said before, buy what your mates have - it's the same fking thing at the end of the day.

A console is a bloddy console, I wish fanboys would just fk off and die.

Mark,

Are you into driving games too, if so then definately go for the XBox version and pay for XBL (cant believe people whinge about £2 per month!)

You will find a massive bunch of us on COD4 and Forza and often are having some good inter-game battles, with 'them' beating us on COD and us whopping there butts on Forza wink

I very much doubt there are more ps3 players than xbox on this forum. The gamertag threads certainly show Xbox has a lot more. It's not uncommon for us to have 10 or more ph ers in a single game each night on xbox.

You state you dont have xbox live, if this is due to the cost then for the sake of a couple of quid a month it blows ps3 online away. As for Pauls comments about immature users I cant comment as there are always enough pistonheaders on to have a full party so we dont listen to the public chat.

PS3 just cant match the xbox for online experience, but I will still buy one for GT5. I'll stick to playing games such as Cod on the xbox though.

Providing you have a decent PC, its head and shoulders better than any console FPS could ever hope to be.

Do you not get lots of cheaters? In fact after the thread about cod hackers on here it made both ps3 and pc sound terrible to play on.

There is punkbuster on the PC which stops a lot of the hacks, and usually because you get a choice what server you go on there are admin about who will kick anyone cheating, or on a lot of servers there is a vote function, where other players can vote someone to be kicked/banned.

the pc is, and always will be the way to online game.

Nope. Consoles are less hassle, more convenient and are a level playing field for gaming (same hardware, same graphics/ resolution etc). I can change the TV channel and be in a game of COD4 in less than a minute.

I played online PC games for years, since Quake in the mid-nineties and frankly, I think console gaming is the way forward.

You're wrong.

The standard of console online FPS is awful. Its almost boring because of this. You have no choice as to what server/maps you play. Loading up cod4 on a pc takes the same amount of time as putting the disk in a console and turning on the TV.

Of course you have a choice, just start your own party and you can play whatever maps you want, with your own mates. And most people have mics. There is no server, people with fast connections like me will often be the host. Booting a PC and running the game takes far longer than booting a 360. No patches, no cheats, no punkbuster, no graphics card drivers, no BSODs.

Slightly OT, but the biggest plus for PC’s is that the numbers of players in a game are always so much bigger. Often 64 players on a PC game, whereas consoles are only ever 16max. Anyone know why?

Probably coding. Sony is bringing out a PS3 title with 256 players. It's called MAG.
