Blackpool and Top Gear.

Saw a repeat of Top Gear [if only] recently and watched them 'race' to Blackpool to switch on the lights.
What the hell were Blackpool thinking of to ask the three biggest numpties on TV who have all slagged off TVR [a Blackpool factory] until it closed, to turn on their friggin' lights?!! Un-phuckin-believable.
Please forgive me if it's been covered before but can't be arsed to troll through endless pages to see if it's ok to try a new post.

Maybe because Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May are well known and marketable and attract tourists. Tourism is worth over £half a billion to Blackpool. The switch on was 2 years after the factory had closed down anyway.

Why don't you write to the Council and ask them if you can switch on the lights?

To be fair to Clarkson et al, they were very very postive about TVR, Blackpool and Wheeler in the old days on Top Gear, this can only have helped the image and shift units.

Most of what they said about quality unfortunately then became a standard joke for the no-brainers; that all TVRs will break down all the time. The car equivalent of an 'essex girl' joke. The jokes and the people that endlessly spout them (inc Clarkson) simply bore me.

I've never actually noticed criticism towards TVR from the TG crew. Sure they've made jokes about reliability but almost anybody who knows what a TVR is has done this at some point.

I thought Clarkson was a friend of PW anyway. Thought I remember seeing an Obiturary written by him.

Looking back at some late 90's editions of Top Gear Magazine and the anniversary TVR programme, they were rather complimentary to TVR.
