Tricky one as these are discussed across the forums in different areas, for example performance tyres are discussed in the track day section, then for a specific marque they are in that marque.
Obviously the asking of the question means you are having problems with tyre related topics so what just wondering what the problem is?

Agree with your post for the most part (which I thought was the reason why there wasnt one initially), but being able to cross reference threads from a manufacturer group to a main forum would be useful. We already have other technical areas for specific parts which are generally about tuning particular engines or suspension for a specific car etc, so I dont really see how tyres could be much different - especially seeing as tyres arent manufacture specific.
I dont see how adding it to the suspension section would be difficult? Or even a Wheels+Tyres sub-forum, but with a technical rather than aesthetic basis with regards to wheels.. It wouldnt eliminate their discussion from elsewhere, but as with many topics I think it's a bit too technical for General Gassing.
My problem is finding a replacement for the Bridgestone Re10 tyre. Yes I could easily answer the question in GG, or in the Honda section (they're for an ITR) but I think this could miss various sources of knowledge.

There is the wiki above where PH'rs can post their experiences of specific tyres in a relatively easy to identify method.
If loads more members posted their findings then it wouldn't take a massive leap of faith to use the info to create a reference database.

I agree with you, but I dont see it happening for a long while. Wiki's dont seem to be used much here and again it's relying on people to review unprompted rather than answer a question in a forum. Also, you may have to read every review before you find what you're looking for.
