venice - where to eat?
Discussion
Morning all,
My parents are going to Venice for a week at the end of the month for their joint birthday celebrations. They haven't been before and so I am after some food&drink recommendations I can pass on to them. They are there long enough to find all the tourist attractions for themselves I reckon!
So, can anyone recommend me some good places for lunch, somewhere romantic/decadent for a celebration meal and some places where they can sample more of the 'real' Venice?
They usually have a 2-3 week tour through Italy once a year and have visited some amazing looking/sounding restaurants so they know their Italian cuisine quite well. Price isn't much of an issue either, but when we swap tales of places we have all visited independently I do feel as though they have a habit of finding tourist trap restaurants and missing the hidden gems.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Shirt.

The restaurants along the Grand Canal (and others) seemed fairly good from my experience (although perhaps falling into your 'tourist trap' category....)My parents are going to Venice for a week at the end of the month for their joint birthday celebrations. For somewhere more decadent, what about one of the 'posh' hotels? they all have good restaurants I would expect; we stayed here http://www.sanclementepalacevenice.com/en/luxury-h... a few years ago and could eat on the terrace in the evening looking across to the main islands... Not sure how you'd go about booking in to the restaurant if not staying, but would have thought it was do-able?!
