Loosely translated from Scots slang, that means smelly / damp clothes.

Which is the state my laundry is currently in smash

Stuck a load of washing on yesterday, took it out the machine only to realise that everything smelt rather damp and unpleasant. So I did a bit of researching last night as to how one would go about fixing this, as the machine is clearly returning my stuff in a less than pleasant state. The load wasn't left in the machine, so that's ruled out as the cause, ditto the detergents as I've been using the same brands for yonks.

Any ideas?!

I'd try a boil wash, first. You could do that empty, but you've probably got some towels/tea-towels that deserve a bit of punishment.

50p pack of soda crystals, hot wash, then an empty rinse wash.

Do a hot wash cycle using bleach with no clothes in the drum, then a couple of rinse cycles

But running the machine with no load in it, good god man, that will destroy the world, kill kittens, almost as bad as dividing by zero

Makes no difference empty some manufactures recommend one empty load when first used and again if left unused for long period.

has far as the kittens are concerned, hand wash in warm water and drip dry. DO NOT SPIN OR MANGLE! as this would be a very bad thing!
