long roof or short roof??
Discussion
I think they changed in 2003.
Assuming you only refer to the S2, there is little difference (the S1 roof is rather different to the S2 long roof). The only advantage of the short roof that I can think of, is that it can be removed in a few seconds from inside the car (although if you have a passenger there's no-where to put it).
There were various revisions to the seals which make much more difference to waterproofness than the roof design itself.
Most people think the long roof looks better.

The long roof has tensioner type fixings on the rear butresses (is that what they're called?) and is a bit more of a pain to fit (not a lot though). In comparison, the short tail roof just clips in each side.
The overhead bars engage with fittings on top of the 'targa' hoop on long tail cars, which means IMHO the short tail cars look cleaner roof off. I must say I'd never thought of long tail looking better, but that's personal preference of course.
As Kambites says, MY03 seem to be short tail.
