Can anyone suggest a good car polish? I don't want to spend a fortune but would like a good quality one.

Can . Worms. All over the place !

coffee

hehe
How so, surely car polish removes scratches by removing a very thin layer of the clear coat that is scratched?

Waxes on the other hand are applied after this process to protect the clear coat from becoming scratched.

Some products combine both so you just apply one product to remove scratches and protect the clear coat.

I can't see anything controversial in the above? confused

Let's assume for a moment the OP meant wax.

What suggestions for a decent wax?

Wax makes the car shiny by putting a film of stuff over the paint. Polish removes scratches by taking a thin layer of paint off the top.

T-cut is a polish, albeit a fairly aggressive one.

I put some Dodo Juice on my 11 year old car recently, it hasn't been waxed for over a year and barely washed in the same time and spent the last 4 months parked under a tree so covered in sap but it looks absolutely stunning now.

Gave it a good scrub with the lime prime cleanser thingy then after the wax it looked incredibly shiny and beads the rain off beautifully.

The controversy lies in the fact that many people (such as the OP) call wax, polish.

No hesitations to recommend Dodo Juice.

Depends greatly on the paint. Audi and Porsche paint seems to absolutely love Zymol polish (just the regular halfords stuff not the £150 wax). Some thinner paints don't seem to get any noticable difference from using it over cheap polish.

Collinite.

I've used Meguires, Zymol and Dodo Juice and Collinite is better than all of them.

It looks fantastic, lasts far longer than all other waxes (up to 6 months) and costs about £25 for a tin that will last you years.

Is the Auto Glym Super Resin Polish abrasive? I asked at Halfords and was told the Super Resin stuff would be fine for repeated use, which fortunately I haven't had time to do yet! I'm just after a mirror-like finish on my red paintwork smile So a wax would be better? Any suggestions?

How many times can you polish a car before you start doing noticeable damage to the paintwork? eek

Rinse, shampoo then rinse using lots of different buckets and sponges.

Clay bar, then paint prep, polish and finally wax.
