Brake reservoir leaking

Anyone had this problem before? The brake fluid reservoir is leaking from the bottom, where the hoses run to the master cylinders. Even with clamps. Did I use the wrong hoses maybe??

Have a good check around the fitting as I suspect you are suffering the same problem others are where it is actually leeching through the rubber of the hose rather than the hose not sealing to the reservoir.

Try this hose. It's available from Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies

"This hose fits our Remote Reservoirs With Push-on Fittings part #3565 and 3566 as well as the Tilton Remote Reservoir Mounting Bracket (part #3557). It is a direct replacement for the hose supplied with Tilton Universal Master Cylinder Kits.

Be aware that typical fuel hoses are not compatible with automotive brake fluid. This hose is formulated to withstand brake fluid and will not dry out, crack, and leak like fuel hose will."

It may well be a leak from the lid under braking . It then runs down to said area . I had this on mine and lowered the fluid level which sort of fixed it .

I also have this problem and suspect the fluid is coming through the hose, rather than leaking from any joins.

Its on my list of niggles to sort, so no fix as yet.

so is this a general problem ? I have not yet fixed the hoses but would rather prefer to do it only once.

Is that hose rated to carry brake fluid? It's quite aggressive stuff. If it's clamped to a plastic spigot it would be worth checking that it's tight but also that it isn't so tight that the spigot distorts or collapses. If you have a pressure bleeding kit you could apply a small pressure to the reservoir to make leaks more obvious.

I suspect, as mentioned above, that the brake fluid is seeping through the hose. I am using the hoses supplied by the factory, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't have seen this problem before. I am using Wilwood Hi-Temp brake fluid, nothing crazy and no DOT 5 fluids.

I'll try different hoses, probably the one suggested by GTR-P.

The exact same problem happened to me. I replaced the hose, and the problem went away.

I got myself some GoodYear industrial hydraulic hose. Let's hope it will do.

factory replies that the AP racing fluid is ok with the factory supplied hoses, so I am going to use this and see
if true

I have not had problems with mine in 5 years.

Factory supplied hos leaked with AP brake fluid in my car.

Ok dragged this up from the summer, my brake fluid is definitely coming through the hose wall. Have any of the guys that changed their hose had an improvement and could i have the manufacturer and type of hose.

I got my hose from the factory. (I know they supplied the original stuff that leaked, but I asked for some hose that wouldn't leak and the second lot has been OK!)

As I read somewhere else, I went to the local hardware store and bought clear plastic tubing. very cheap stuff, and it fixed my problem. I'll go take a picture and post it.
