Nice beach holiday outside of Europe for less than £700pp?

Any suggestions? Current favourite is Sri Lanka but I've just read something about the sea not being suitable for swimming and snorkelling which is making me doubt it the decision.

We are looking to go away late March 2010.

Just keen to see somewhere new, it is a toss up between Sri Lanka and Cuba at the moment. Budget has increased to 800 and the GF has refused to chance it last minute. The search continues.

I'd heartily recommend Cuba.
Beautiful beaches, and Havana is an interesting place.

I'm even contemplating a return next spring before Obama makes friends with little Castro and the place gets ruined.
