Why TVRs are different

I went for lunch today with an old schoolchum. He's quite a petrolhead and well into tuned hot hatches and bikes. Currently has a Golf GTi of some description and loves his driving.
So we went about 20 miles to a pub for lunch...in the Griff
Highlights of the day:
Destroying every other car that got in the way...
Him seeing a 911 driver grinning at us...
Shaking the windows in narrow market town streets and him seeing, for the first time, people turning round to look (shock and awe

But the best was on the way home when I asked if he'd like a go. The answer was an instant flicker of panic and a 'No, it's rear wheel drive, I'd crash it'. He was similarly troubled by lack of PAS and ABS.

Ah well, job done, I'll just get my barbed-wire shirt out of the wash and bite the heads off some dogs

Last week took an old work colleague out in the Griff for the first time. 24 years old he is, go-karts at weekends, fancies himself as a bit of a decent driver. He actually said, "Ok, I'm scared". Oh, to corner in a Griff.

Went out yesterday on a last minute thing to meet some mates over near York, it took them about an hour to twig that the reason I had been wearing a hat and big furry jacket when I walked in was cos i was in the Griff - cue mate's girlfriend and 14 year old daughter "is it here? where? Let's have a look look.... wow, now that's a car!!! Can we have one"

Ah, the look on people's faces when they see a TVR .......... it's a blessing to behold. Mostly grins and smiles together with a few waves from young kids, which is nice!!.

Best giggle I've had though was on Friday night when returning to the Chim parked in an underground car park after the cinema. Place was packed and so the windows came down and my girlfriend and I enjoyed scaring everyone to death when I fired up the beast!! (No excess revving I promise) ............. Was the roof falling in? Was it an earthquake? Was the end of the world upon us? Everyone was running scared. Nope, it was my sports exhaust making everything in it's path shake and rattle ............ together with setting off the odd car alarm or two!!!! Ah what fun.
