It was my daughters 1st birthday yesterday. We took hundreds of pictures, most of them came out like this:

The images are blurred and dark. Is there anyway of improving these images? I am completely useless when it comes to programs like PhotoShop so is there a quick fix?
Most of the images taken were like this, now obviously I can't go back in time. So what are my options?
Please help, David

There's not much you can do with the blur (there are softwares that claim to fix it but they usually come out terrible) but dark image can be easily fixed. Shadows/Highlights tool in Photoshop would probably be the best option in this case to bring out the shadow details.

Looking at the first very grainy image, shutter speed was 1/6s (a sixth of a second) and ISO was 400.

1/6 is slow (you have to keep the camera very still) and ISO 400 is really too high for a point and shoot camera with a small sensor.

If the camera was in Auto mode, there wasn't enough light for it. In future use the flash!

Don't know much about photoshopping so can't help with sharpening those up...

I know the camera setting were wrong, my fault entirely.

Would these pictures look bad if they were printed??

It's not going to be great to be honest. I've just run it through a print output sharpener to see what it was like, it went quite dark and got very noisy. If you're going to carry on with them, you'll need to add in a lot of brightness, but I dont think you'll really come out with something radically better sorry.

On the upside, you could redo them next weekend and say nowt if ever asked in a few years time.

They'd look the same (subjects out of focus). Faster shutter speed or flash (as mentioned). Too late now I'm afraid.
