Just curious, is there any way of telling how many views a classified advert has had. I currently have a car advertised on here and haven't had any interest. I'm not suprised, its a 206CC after all but it would be nice to know if people are at least viewing it. With this being a more petrol head oriented website, I wasn't sure if it would be the best place to advertise but with it being free, I figured it was worth a try. If there was a way of knowing how many views it had recieved, it would at least let me know there are people looking for slow, grey, cramped little convertibles.

Not criticism by the way, I just want my Grandad to get himself a better car as soon as possible, my Mam can hardly fit in the back hehe

The worst thing is, he used to have a Ford Puma which was a great little car, so much so I wanted it for my first car. I'm sure you will agree, being the owner of one yourself.

The 206CC was a bad idea from the start. My complaints of "its based on a hatchback known for a bad driving position" and "look at how small those rear seats are, they're like egg cups" fell on deaf ears.

Hence why it has to go. If you're interested, feel free to contact me wink

The system used to count views, but as traffic grew the volume of writing to the database outgrew the architecture and it had to be turned off pending a new system. I suspect it's on a to-do list somewhere, but will probably stay in the 'nice to have' category for the foreseeable future.

Oh well, thanks for the reply anyway. Great website by the way!

Although we no longer have a visible view-counter, there is still a back end one which we can access manually. I've just checked this and your advert has currently had 37 views.

If you want to get it a bit more attention then it could be worth upgrading it to a premium advert. This will allow you to add 6 more pictures and will make it appear ahead of all the standard adverts in the listings.

Thanks for the reply. I can see your point about upgrading to the premium advert. The reason the advert is a standard one at the moment is to test the water so to speak. If we don't recieve any offers, I will have to ask him what he wants to do.

37 people have viewed it though, certainly more than I was expecting hehe

Just wondering; and please do feel free to ignore this post if the answer isn't what's expected.

Buuuut......... do you have any stats, which show the premium adverts gaining more of an audience than the standard ones?

When I look through for my fantasy garage - or indeed doing some research for a friend, I honestly couldn't be bothered whether it's from a premium or standard advert.

All I care for are the images; and ensuring the description tallies with them.

I was wondering this myself. Would you be able to check if my advert has had any interest please? Pretty please?

It really depends how many cars are in the section and whether or not you are looking for something specific.

A standard advert for a 318i at the back of the E46 section will be after an awful lot of premium adverts for similar cars, which will tend to get looked at and called first, so the upgrade will definitely be worth the money.

On the other hand if you are advertising an M6 there are only two pages of cars so the positioning becomes far less important and the only real gain for upgrading is the 6 extra pictures.

Hope that makes sense!
