Now and again a chunk of the latest posts will disappear for a while then re-appear.

Hadn't noticed it for a while until there.

Edit: that may have been someone just deleting their post, did the problem get fixed previously though?

The problems we were having a while ago are now fixed, so I think it probably was a deletion in action. Where did you spot it?
