I used the Holiday Inn.
Perfectly sufficient for 1 night, 5 minute bus ride to the Terminal BUT I had to turn the keys over and they moved the car. They were all parked on verges around their car park eek
Saying that, it came back without a mark on it.

This year, I used the Crown Plaza.
Nicer hotel but smaller room bizarrely. They took the keys but the car stayed in their car park, just moved down a couple of spaces. 15 minute ride to the Terminal.

I'd go with the Holiday Inn again personally (and am at Xmas) It's not the last word in luxury by any stretch but it's only for a night before you fly. If you have an expensive motor or are worried about damage though I'd stick to something on site.

We stayed at the The Copthorne Gatwick before flying out last year.

Couldn't really fault it for price, facilities, quality of service, food, etc..

Ditto - I believe you get a room upgrade with Virgin Silver...

  • If you are taking your pride and joy (or any car you value) this is the one....*
Ibis Gatwick on London Road. Next door to the First Choice offices and opposite the Canon HQ. Dead easy to get to.

It is the only Gatwick hotel I have come across where you don't hand over your keys. You simply take a ticket, park in the multistorey car park, get a print off from reception when you check in, and put it in your dash for the duration of your stay.

You can park your car where and how you want, all tucked away nice and tight, and leave it safe in the knowledge that noone will be driving it around sites and leaving it god knows where, with the added bonus that it is in a covered and dry private car park.

And when you come back it won't have 25 miles on the clock, quarter of a tank of fuel blasted, all your change stolen from your centre console and the outside covered in mud and leaves like I have experienced at other places on more than one occasion...

We got a nights stay in the hotel and 7 days parking for £64 last month. Absolute bargain. Rooms were perfectly big and nice for a nights stay.

The transfers are direct by private Mercedes minibus, not a bus that goes round the usual hotels first. £3 each way per person. When we came back they had laid the transfer on just for us and it was waiting outside.

They also have smoking rooms on the top floor if you are a smoker.

I've made it my only stop now for parking only or hotel and parking packages at Gatwick.

+2, I've left my car there for two weeks without issue. Didn't use any of the hotel facilities as I got there late and flew out early in the AM.

apc parking, they have deals with local hotels and run a regular bus to the terminals.
