One of my old bangers (70s chevy pick up) leaks in rain a bit and the carpet down at the peddles and passanger foot well is damp and holding in the water which is not good in my ongoing battles against rust.

Can anyone reccomend a good quality breathable outdoor cover? Ive seen them in halfords for about £50, a 3 layer one (does that make a difference that it has 3 layers?), but then I have seen various other ones in the car mags for £150+.

Want to get a good one that keeps rain and moisture minimum that will last for years. Anyone any experience/ advice?
Thanks.

It may be a bit like wearing your dads old clothes, but borrow one of mine and see how you get on with it . . . . . . . . . . . even if mine are for the slightly fuller figured Ferrari's biggrin

I've just started using the "Stormforce" cover from these guys - http://www.coveryourcar.co.uk/store/home.php

When I was looking, these chaps were consistently recommended to me.

^^^ These.

I have one on the Elise and it is excellent. Light weight, waterproof and breathable. Not the cheapest, but definitely worth the money.

One thing that I would add, based on my experience of the first cover that I had for the Elise, would be to avoid any cover that has a "plasticised" outer skin. The one that I had photo-degraded in only 18 months and the outer skin began to flake off.

Well, for what it's worth, the Stormforce cover I referred to earlier is both fully waterproof and breathable. The material itself is quite odd, in that it does not feel like a traditionally waterproof material, although I can definitely say it IS waterproof - living on the West Coast of Scotland has given me ample opportunity to test it hehe

As for breathability, I habitually check the car, and in the couple of months I've had the cover, I have not found any moisture - and again, the material itself is visibly porous.

As a matter of interest, how much is the average Covercraft-Europe cover? The Stormforce was circa £140 odd.

Holy thread resurrection batman!

I need an outdoor cover for my Silver Shadow for a few months.

The link above do a 'Monsoon', which seems to be what I want. £167.50. Seems fine.

But there this 'Monsoon' cover on ebay, for £126, is it the same?

Paint on the Shad isn't great, its not like I have perfect original Rolls paint to protect. So a £500 cover isn't justified. Perhaps a £50 Halfords job would do?
