Need more range? The perfect handheld lens

I'm going to order one to shoot purely handheld with the 2x. That should be a nice 3840mm.

Quite an old lens...

Tho canons 800/5.6 IS is supposed to be hand holdable (for a bit).

I can hand hold my old FD mount 600mm which I suspect is heavier than the EF 800.

Can't keep the subject in the frame (even if I have found it ....) but I can hand hold the lens. For about 30 seconds on a good day.

Its a fair bit lighter than the current 600/5.6 I think, lots of CF and magnesium in construction.
