Hi there,

I am looking at buying my first Elise and need to find a good place to get it serviced and looked after. So can anybody recommend a good garage in/or near Sheffield that knows the Elise inside out? I am looking for advice from people that have had good (or bad) experiences with garages.

Thanks!

I would recommend Chris Foulds in Huddersfield, a bit nearer Sheffield as well.

Could look at Swifts, although they were a bit pricy last time I asked from memory.

Thanks - this place sounds good as they are Lotus specialist, rather than generic like Swifts in Sheffield.

I used to take mine there too. Good service and they know their stuff.

Another vote for Chris Foulds.

From Sheffield you will be able to plan a route over to take in a few decent roads.

Can also get a train back to Sheffield, Meadow Hall etc from Honley station (five minute walk from the garage) if they need you to leave the car over night.

Not cheap but decent service, won't do unnecessary work and refreshingly free of bullst

Yeah that's what attracted me (besides living nearby) and I know he has been recommended on here a few times.

Chris Foulds every time, he serviced my last Lotus for the 5 years I had it and the car was cosseted, nice guy too, I've lost count of the times I've turned up for a nosey at what he's got in and he always makes time for a natter. He's also going to be servicing my new steed when i pick it up next week, need to run it in first though of course.......

Not really generic as such, they do handle mainly Lotus, just that they do a few other performance oriented cars as well. Nearly always a couple of Loti in there having some work done. As I say though, not the cheapest of places.

David at Swifts ran (raced?) an exige 240 cup for a while and they are used to dealling with loti. I bought my cup car from them and thought they were all very likeable people and I would deal with them again.

Raceproved in Sheffield (Handsworth) have a time-served Lotus mechanic on their staff, well worth a call I would say as they seem to be closest to you?

Another vote for Chris Foulds, he's looked after my Elise for over 7 years and it's booked in again in Sept for service, mot and cambelt. As stated - not a million miles from Sheffield.

I ended up having mine serviced/mot'd/geo'd/few niggles sorted at Christopher Neil again - cheaper than the price from Foulds and I got a courtesy car for the day so I wasn't stuck like a lemon with nothing to do. Plus it's another main dealer stamp in the book (I'd not have paid extra for it, but when it's cheaper, seems daft not to when some people still value a FLSH at resale time)
