Yes, but how come the eclipse is sharp but the rest of the pic is out of focus?

What's going on there?

good question. Probably because it's some sort of reflection the camera is focussed at that distance - like when you take a picture into a mirror the frame will not be in focus when the reflected image is.

That's my guess anyway.

The camera was focussed on the moon, 250,000 miles away, not the boy, 5 feet away

Yep. Mosty people would just focus on the boy, and then the eclipse (the subject of the photo) would just be a splodge.
