European car rental - Toulouse to Barcelona

Can anyone give any advice on how to get a reasonable deal on renting a car to drive from Toulouse (France) to Barcelona (Spain)? Only need for half a day for the one way journey. Best I can find is £300+, think I'll get the bus if that's is the case.

£300 for 12 hours? For a medium size estate, which I need it's nearer £450. I think that's a lot, if it wasn't across borders it'd only be £150, I wouldn't have thought it'd be much of a problem for the big firms, Hertz, etc.

you're talking about taking a car that is registered to one country and then taking and leaving it in another.. It's not like driving from Glasgow to London. Completely different motoring authorities etc. My guess is they actually need to employ someone to get that car back!
