Been looking at getting a cheapish camcorder.

In particular the Sanyo Xacti range appeals, as they have a couple of HD units in my price range. I'd like a waterproof one for use whilst swimming etc.

Anyone have any experience of the VPC-WH1 or the VPC-CA9 ?

Thanks.

Not those models but I do have an older one (C4 from memory) and it's been fine, still image quality is ok, particularly on the lower ISO settings, video quality is reasonable indoors and good outside.

Ive got the WH1 and its quite good. Its very small, fits in a jacket pocket easily and is dead simple to use.
Battery last forever and on a 4gb SD card you get over an hour of HD filming.

On HD the playback does seem a little choppy but as I dont have an HD TV its going through my pc so could be that. If you put it in 640 x 480 and 60fps though its great. Low light is poor as are the still pics. Sanyo make a big play of it being a 'Dual Camera' but the 2mp stills are really dire, they put me in mind of a 5 year old camera phone.

My sister has one of the other water proof Xacti's, looking at some shots Ive got stored on my pc its a CA65 ??? Its one of the trigger style ones. That one while it doesnt shoot in HD does work as a very decent still camera and and the video seems just as good as mine. Low light performace is poor on that one too and the flash does produce some awfull red eyes.
