We're staying up in the wilds of Lancashire in August - on the way (or way back) we'd like to have a 2 night city break - so which would PH recommend? Liverpool, Manchester, both or neither!

I'd say Manchester.

Probably not much in it to be honest but I think Manchester just about wings it.

Taken the piss out of Scousers all my life until I went up and stayed there on a stag weekend. Fantastic city centre. Very friendly. Rate it as one of the best Northern cities.

I've also allways taken the piss out of Manks for being scuzzers. I've been up there as well and each trip simply re-inforces the view. No culture, no class. biggrin
