My car seems to be idling a bit too high, 1250k rpm after warm up. The butterflys are closed fully too. Could I have a little info about the idle control works, is it mostly electrical? In that case I may need a remap.

Thanks everyone

It would be worth taking the idle control valve off and giving it a good clean; not a difficult job and a homemade gasket (from cereal packet with a little vaseline for sealant) works well. I do mine every 3 years or so and it is amazing how filthy they get.

It's an electrical solenoid with a valve on. When the solenoid is activated it opens and allows air to bleed past the throttle butterflies, to control the idlke speed. It opens and closes to a signal from the ecu, taking account of engine temperature, etc.

If it gets dirty, it can't close properly, so more air gets past than the ecu thinks it needs, and the idle speed rises.

As Jim says, regular cleaning is essential.

Business cards make good gaskets too.

lukas if after you try the above and it dont work as mine did look at the water temp sensor for the ecu which is at the front of the heads by the plenium, mine was faulty and the ecu thinks the engine is cold and add fuel increasing idle speed
