As title, i am after a set of used, but good and reasonably priced 135 cams for a non vvc K series engine.

I just missed the last few sets that PTP were flogging off cheap unfortunately.

They have 9.5mm lift and 252 duration if anyone needs to chech them. Thay also have a part number on them that i can get checked.

Thanks

Eddy

?? somewhat confused...

I was under the impression that the Lotus 135 kit's had std cams? (it was just a ported head)

Well PTP had cams made by Piper to upgrade a base model 118hp Elise or MGF to 135hp with induction and exhaust mods. They were called the 135 cams. I thought Lotus did the same to creat the 135hp version as this is much easier than head work.

The 135 Elise may have had head mods. You probably know more about the Elises than i, but PTP definitely did these cams to upgrade the basic engine.

Cheers

Don't know if it is still there, but there was very recently a classified ad on Seloc from someone selling off some surplus K Series bits and pieces including a pair of peformance cams. Might be worth a look.

I thought 135 was cams, 160 was cams + head work.

Maybe that's for the PTP kits. From what I've read, for the Lotus ones it's (ignoring plenums, ecu's etc):

135 = head work, std cams
160 = more head work + cams

I remember seeing some dyno graphs a while ago that bore this out - the 135 curves were similar in shape to the standard K (good torque and midrange, petering out after 5500rpm, i.e. std cams) while the 160 had less down low but way more top end power above 5500.

yup, that's pretty much it... (both had VVC style plenum's too)

I would be surprised if PTP's 135 was different as they were the source for the Lotus kit's

PTP 135 cams were 9.5mm lift. Standard were 8.8mm.

Perhaps Lotus got their extra power with inlet etc and the PTP 135 conversion was cams.

This thread is not intended to cause debate. All i want is some PTP 135 cams ie 9.5mm lift.

Elise 135 upgrade was done through headwork and a different inlet manifold, but with standard cams.

The '135' cams will be from the MGTF 135, which had a small power boost over the standard 118 K through slightly warmer cams. These cams were 9.5mm lift, 252 duration.

Indeed. I had the 135 mod done, and sold the old head to someone who wanted a spare head to work on.
