Hi guys...I have enjoyed reading the forum and learning heaps while I have been searching for an S3.
I bought one over the weekend and we will be exporting it down to NZ....this will only be the second S3 in the country.!
I'll post a picture when it gets here...keep spreading the S word.

I didn't think you could register it over there unless it's 1999 or newer or something of the sort?

Cor I'd love a TVR in New Zealand though...

Welcome to Pistonheads by the way! biggrin

Lucky you! I spent 5 weeks touring NZ in a camper van and the whole time I was there I was wishing I was in the S - great scenery and great roads driving Only consolation was the campervan had a fridge full of beer about 6 ft behind me for when we stopped!!

Oh, and welcome to the forum smile

Never been to Aukland but toured the south island a few years ago in an Brother-in-laws toyota someboringthing hurl

Country, people, scenery, roads, weather were all fantastic and I would love to do it all again in an "S"...

Its always a treat seeing another "S" in blighty so imagine driving along and seeing the only other "S" coming the other way !!! you would have to stop and chat

safe driving and watch those bloody possums dont clog up your air intake

Thanks for the comments.
The S3 is a 1990 and we will be presenting it for registration in January when it will qualify as a "classic" of 20 yeas old. Therefore not having to comply with frontal impact etc.
It will take 2 months freighting in a container & then we will tidy it up a little over Nov-Dec.
Jim Gamsby (Ex TVR Maidstone & UK Club Secretay) runs our club down here. Two years ago, he got 10 TVR's (from wedges through to Tuscan) at 1 event. The next country wide get together is March next year , where we are hoping to get 12 all together..!Yes there will be photos.
Oh and YES, driving top down over here will be great.

Nice... (the roads that is...)hehe

did you go over any long single track bridges with railway lines in the centre yikes down by Franz Joseph Glacier ? scarey thought, but as we only saw oncoming cars approx every 20 mins I dont suppose there are many trains... but then again, it only takes one !

K wink

Hi Fred...
I am using Karmon shipping(details below).Approx STG1400 for a sole use container, but if you are bringing houshold goods as well, then thats even better.
Not sure what the compliance is for Oz...its very strict here & NZ/OZ cars can move pretty freely between countries , which would imply OZ is strict as well.
But you have plenty of time to check that out.
W.A would be a great place to dive in.
All the best.

Yes we did!

But that was not as bad as an earlier part of the same trip (different campervan though!) when we drove off the ferry at Whittier, Alaska - for the first mile or so the road and rails share a tunnel with traffic lights at each end!!
