Hi All need your help please.

To cut a very long story short, I am trying to remove the contents, supervisory password work from my PC.

I know that for instance, the windows password can be cleared by deleting the relevant pwl file.

Is there such a file associated to IE?

Thanking you in advance.

Is this on your new PC then as it sounds like the sort of nanny state control of a works systems admin?

Anyway :-

1) Click on Start and choose Run.

2) Type in RegEdit and select OK.

3) Now click on the little plus sign to the left of H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

4) Now go through Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Policies.

5) Now click on the Ratings folder.

6) On the right hand side of the RegEdit window, you'll see an icon called 'Key'. Click on it and press Delete.

7) Exit to exit RegEdit. You've just deleted your original Content Advisor password.

8) Restart the computer and run Internet Explorer again.

9) Choose View and then Internet Options, Click on Tools, Internet Options.

10) Click on the Content tab and click on Disable. When asked for a password, don't enter anything; just click on OK. This will disable Content Advisor because there's no longer a password.

Gave it a whizz and all is well, every step below worked with the exception of 10) It wouldn't allow me to put in a blank password.. So I've used mine now and not some numpty directors, who suffers from a short memory.

I've never had to do it myself, but have the procedure. I guess the blank bit works on a different OS (XP Pro or Win2000 maybe).

But at least you're sorted
