Hi I am kind of new to the professional photography world but I am aware of rigs and set-ups ; how they work and how to-do it because I was taught it in college but I was wondering where I go about actually buying or renting the equipment? I would like to make a car rig or something along those lines but I have no idea where to look or better yet what to search for?

Hague are excellent Damien, if you are interested in buying. I have the camcorder suction mount, and use this with the 40d and 17-40 (or 10-22), works a treat!!

Not sure about renting..

edited to add a couple of shots to let you see it in action.

Fast Films have a pretty good reputation for sales, again not sure about rental.

Dobbo and Deanphoto amongst others off here both put out high-quality rig work regularly...

Blimey, didn't realise how expensive all this stuff is haha. Guess its something you build up over time?

Now I am pretty good in photoshop but how on earth do you go about removing the rig from this photo?

Not really, without all the bits from the start you can't really take any photos.

It's expensive and hard to get right - Deanphoto is much better at it than me, I think he has a single boom rig and mine is more complicated. I got mine from BHague.

Matt Watkinson gets amazing results using the same kit I've got, and Trackdemon is pretty bloody good at it too.

I'd have to recommend reading this before planning or buying anything. Yes it's a long thread but it might save you a couple of hundred notes.

I've written about my rig setup here

A couple of samples, loads more here

Removing the rig involves taking another photo without the rig there and photoshopping the required bits into place. There was a great tutorial for this on Matt Watkinson's site but it's down at present.
