Looking under the bonnet today I noticed that some wires which pass over the near side rocker box have been rubbing and have worn away the powder coating, thats not an issue but if it carries on then the insulation is likley to wear and a short will occur. This could well cause a problem.

Now the question is what the best thing to wrap around the two thin wires and the thick bunch alongside, see pic

Not forgetting it will rest on the rocker box whish will will get hot

Hi Norman,

1st thing i would suggest is spend some time in the PH photography forum,
that is the most blurred photo i have ever seen.

Back to your problem, rocker covers don't get hot like the manifolds do,
and would not melt most materials. Dont use electrical tape as the heat effects that, and will start to look cr-p.

Now i know the stuff you need, but don't know what it's called, but it is flexible conduit, it looks a bit like shock springs but made of plastic,
it wraps round the wires, protecting them and looks nice and tidy.

I did look for a link, but can't find at the moment.

Spiral wrap is what I think you're trying to say.... available from Maplin etc.

I'd use self amalgamating tape.
This is a rubbery type tape that you have to pull tight as you wind it around - it sticks to itself and makes a rubbery waterproof covering, and amalgamates together to make a single piece. Its great for patching up wiring looms.
I got some from electrical wholesalers, though I guess B&Q might do it.

Spiral wrap gets my vote over that amalgamating stuff.
Used it on my S4 wiring to protect it, its very hardwearing and flexible. Its what we used at NISSAN on supply pipes/cables for Fanuc robots moving at 2metres/sec and it worked a treat.

+1 for spiral wrap.
Hard wearing, flexible, easy to remove if needed and looks the business. My whole engine bay is covered with the stuff.

+2 - used it all over my car - costs very little from autosparks - in the useful links section

Split corrugated tube is the stuff I prefer to use. It gives better protection than the spiral wrap.
