I'm in need of a simple to use printer for the mother. The only issue is she doesnt have access to a computer, so will need to be one of those that you just drop the SD card in and select what ones she wants to print.

Any recoemmendations?

Thanks
Danny

Can't help specifically, but internet reviews aside, I'd head for somewhere like Comet where they have virtually every model on display, and at least then you can draw up a shortlist. I'd head for a decent brand but consider cartridge costs too.

My step dad has a Canon Selphy ES30 (i think) which does a very nice job of churning out high quality 6x4s direct from a memory card.

Think it was about £120 online, and you buy paper + ink packs together rather than separate inks and paper - odd but it works. Limited to 6x4 though, of course.

HP do a number of these as do other manufacturers from as little as £70. If your mother is printing a lot out though I would seriously reccommed that she take the SD card to the local photo shop, better quality and much cheaper.

Most of the modern printers have the Pictbridge facility to either plug the camera in direct or to put the card in. The problem with most cheap printers is not the cost of purchase, which is deliberately kept low, but the cost of the ink cartridges afterwards. If your Mum isn't taking too many photos then it would be best to take it tone of the numerous machines proliferating at supermarkets etc and print there.
