Ignition Coils No. 3 on MCS (R56)
Discussion
Recently I had my MCS fail on its No.3 for a short second, just enough to get the engine light on. I stopped, called the recovery services for advice and I was told to wait a little and then start it again. It re-setted itself and the fault has not happened again.
Took it to the garage as it is still under warranty and yes, they see the error but cannot see the fault now. So in short the Igniton coil on No. 3 is not 100%. I asked for it to be changed under the warranty and they say they can not because the computer is not telling them at time of test that there is a fault. Checked the argument out with another dealer and the warranty Dept. policy is such. My interpretation of this being that they are happy for customers to have a vehicle that is not 100% under acceleration with sudden loss of power.
I called the warranty people and customer services and they are looking at the issue although I am not too hopeful without having to get ugly. The part in question is worth 34 GBP's so we are nto talking mega bucks!
Anybody else suffer from this fault with their mini? How did you resolve the issue if it was still under warranty?
Thanks in advance,
Andy
