Yep, that's cranking amps, ie peak load. Amp/hours is total capacity, ie 100Ah means 100A for 1 hour.

If its not too late we fitted a Delphi freedom battery into our ill fated V8S. 80 ampere hours and...wait for it....730 Cold Cranking Amps. It turns the engine over like its not there. It is a very tight fit if you have an electric aerial and needs the side mount rails triming with a plane. But you can't argue with the spec and it came out top in a recent Auto Express feature. If your friend is interested I can look up the model number. It is different to the one listed for the S. £53 inc. VAT was the cheepest I found it.

Is that a normal lead-acid battery? Some of the gel types offer that sort of performance but don't like being left on a slow discharge and get seriously p!ssed off if you deep-discharge them.

Hi Pies,

Battery was a Delphi Freedom BE 08036.....normal lead acid battery but stonking spec. Got it from Motorcare in Slough. Tel No. 01753 - 577918. This is the biggest battery that will fit in the V8S. I spent ages on the phone to their technical Dept. working through dimentions. It comes with a three year warranty.
