Bird Deterrents
Discussion
Well, I realise this is going to make me sound mad, pathetically fractious, plain cantankerous, or possibly any combination of the above and more, but.......
....at the back of my fairly small garden, there is a large (ie house height) hawthorn hedge. In it, seemingly, lives a bird. I cannot and never have seen this bird, but from dawn (yes, even when I went to the bathroom at 4.15 the other day) until dusk it sits in the hedge and makes a simple two-tone whistle approximately every 1.5 seconds. It just never stops, the whole day long. Occasionally, it's friend answers from down the road somewhere, but essentially it just carries on non stop. Far be it from me to be irritated by something so trivial but fvck me, I'm irritated by something so trivial. It's like japanese water torture after a while.
Now, I'd happily line up a .22 air gun and rid myself of the issue (I know, I know, wild birds, yada yada yada) but I can't even see the little fvcker, let alone loose off a round at it. I can't cut the hedge down, because, privacy issues aside, I'm led to believe it has some sort of protection order on it. So, what else can I do to persuade the feathery nuisance to go and sing somewhere else? I'm even thinking about one of those ridiculous plastic owls on a stick - do they actually work?
Yours, wearing earplugs.....
