So since I like dags and are a bare knuckle boxing pikey champion I am looking into an M3 to cruise around the town center very slowly before doing burnouts outside McDonalds to impress the local school girls while driving in a position that shows me for the gorilla I am.

When parting with any amount of money you have to be careful and on my journey across auto trader two adverts have caught my eye for the wrong reasons. I would just like some views on if I am being paranoid or if I go to take a look I will be mugged and then have to get all my family into some old Jags with shotguns and go shoot some people.

First one is just too cheap to be true and is posted by a "trader" who only has a mobile number and lists a company that I cannot find any other reference too with a bit of google searchery.

linky

It just seems too cheap to be true. The reason might be it is a stter or the dealer is not a 21st century type so doesn't have an email address or a website.

The second one seems even stranger

linky

So we have pictures from an other car that was advertised on auto trader recently from a dealer yet the ad is private and comes with a warranty. Again no website only a mobile number and an email link this time. Maybe he bought it from the dealer and is selling it already? Maybe but why not just take some more photos since it might have changed since? Just seems wrong to me.

So am I being paranoid and need to unwind by going hare coursing for a bit? Or has my harsh traveler upbringing given me an innate sense of when I would be done over?

I would share your paranoia. Those ads are a little suspicious. I wouldn't buy a car with 'replica' alloys either.

I knew I had seen the blue one before

http://pistonheads.com/sales/1095449.htm

So someone is using the pictures from that add on autotrader with a different phone number.

The car is supposed to be in South Oxford yet the Auto Trade ad puts it in High Wycombe just down the M40.

The prices seem about right. So nothing strnage there.

The advert for the second one is the same, the autotrader advert just has their funny 07590 number rather than a direct number to the person selling it. So nothing strange there either.

I personally prefer the first one.

Could be a work/home address thing. They're not a million miles away, so that wouldnt worry me personally.

If you're getting a bad feeling, move on, there's plenty for sale.

Good luck with the hunt.

Very nice but bit of a mission up to Aberdeen wink.

Found a few to look at near me and a few others that I am put of off since someone must of sat reading the M3 brochure and said to themselves "Black with lime green leather interior, yeah that will look great!"

If you are blind yes.

Seen a few other cream and tan leather interiors that are just not my cup of tea either. The red is ok and blue I can live with since my Teg was blue with blue recaros and carpets.

Yes, a bit of a trek to get up here! But I did travel all the way down to Cambridge to buy it!! Sometimes it is worth it to travel!

However, it sold yesterday!

I put up the ad at about midnight on Friday and the 1st person who phoned yesterday has now left a deposit and is collecting on Friday - not to hard when selling a good car I suppose!

Still cant believe it pretty much sold in 1 day! eek

I agree, some of the colour combos are horrendous, especially those with the laguna seca type colour leather, not my thing, but guess some folk must like it.

If anyone was interested I know of another two up here for sale, both friends cars - both still in BMW waranty, one Silver grey and the other Estoril Blue and have been very well looked after.

Took a friend to pick up his car today from IMC in Reading. Took some time to go over their M3s and even was able to take one I was interested in out for a short spin.

Pretty much all their cars are in beautiful condition and the two gents there were helpful and friendly. So I suspect they will be getting my business when the insurance pays up.

Got to say that SMG is definatly a marmite thing but I think I could get to like it after I get some practice.

Ok I will admit with that one seeing it in the flesh is better than the photos since for some reason the photos made the colour to be alot brighter than it really is.

It is much better than the tan or cream interiors that I have seen.

Quoted with the intention of asking whether you'd gone for black or anthracite on your wheels, then clocked the file name in the link.

My wheels would benifit from a refurb, and am planning to go for black.

Got any more pictures?

Another thing I noticed when on my short drive is the drive by wire throttle. I have only ever drive a cable throttle so it felt very strange that pressing the pedal didn't do anything until a certain point and caused a bit of a scary moment when I stabbed down a bit too much.

I didn't try it in sport mode but I am guessing that would make the throttle a bit more linear much like I am used too?

gizlaroc did you just have the wheels done or did you change the kidney grills to those carbon look ones I have seen on some others. I quite like the idea of a black or gray M3 with the carbon look grills and side vents and dark wheels. Just have to wait for asbo to come in and call me a chav wink .

Mine was that combo. Carbon black with Kiwi leather. I liked it. Was a bit of a sod to sell on though.

Now THAT is a Stevie Wonder colour combo if ever there was one!
