Hi,

Have found a good looking MCS for sale but it has some stripes on the boot which I would be keen to take off. I have seem some threads that say this is possible, but how exactly would I go about doing it. Is it safer and less hassle to take it to a body shop and pay to get them to remove them.

Thanks

Give it a go yourself, warming them up with a hairdryer should encourage them to come off easily. Then use white spirit, petrol or similar to remove any leftover residue. Give the boot a good wash afterwards to ensure there's no chemicals left on the paintwork.

The only issue you may have is if the paint you uncover is in much better condition to the rest of the car, in which case you may be left with shiny areas where the decals once were. A 'detailer' or bodyshop with a rotary polisher should be able to sort this out for you.

As said above, this is the exact method we as a dealer use (heat gun as opposed to hair-dryer though hehe ). More often than not there is no paint difference.
