Did anyone else subscribe to the Oz F1 this weekend on Sky's F1 Digital+ channel.

I'm not totally convinced, and wonder if anyone else has any comments on it.

Generally the actual coverage, ie angles, shorts, replays etc were better than ITV, but the commentary was dire.

Yep I decided to invest £12 on this. Like you I thought the camera shots were pretty good, in fact when Ralf ran over Baraccello I nearly jumped out of my skin! When I saw ITV’s coverage (recorded the highlights) it wasn't nearly so dramatic. I agree regarding the commentary, well there wasn't one really, just Perry & Damon chatting as if they were watching it in a pub. I thought it refreshing that they were totally non-PC in their comments though. ITV always have to be so balanced and non critical of anything. Loved the bit when PM asked if Damon would like to have a go at stuffing Shuie’ into the barriers for old times sake! "Be rude not to" was Damon’s reply! All in all I could happily listen to PM and DH but it needs a decent commentator over the top to keep the continuity going. And I must say I thought Brundle was much more professional on ITV. Did anyone bother with switching around the screens? Once the race started I didn't bother. Rich...

it was lucky that we were on the incar camera when the accident happened, looked amazing didnt you think. Given that we only knew 3 weeks before the event it was all a bit kick bollox scramble to get it on Sky.
Didnt think it was that bad for a first attempt?

Well you say my comments pretty much on agreement with you, although I wasn't aware it had to be prepared in just 3 weeks! All in all a decent effort - I'd say keep the two boys in the studio and get Matthew Lorenzo (or whoever) to do a proper running commentry. I'll certainly give it another try. Rich...

OK well regards flicking through the 8 x channels I did this during practice and yes it's a great idea, you can flick around when one feed gets boring and pick on an interview or something else. During the race however I decided to stay pretty well with the main feed because I couldn't be bothered to swap around. Regards the commentry I would say Perry McArthy and Damon Hill did 80% of the chat and Matthew Loenzo just filled in with questions and observations when it went quiet. Perry & Damon were in fact very funny in a droll sort of way, sort of schoolboy banter and as I said it was refreshingly non-PC, but I would prefer ML to do more of a proper commentry allowing PMcA and DH more time to think about what they are going to say. Being so accustomed to going to bed early I watched the warm-up and recorded the rest.

By sheer chance I heard an announcement that the John Watson/Ben Edwards commentary would be on the Super Channel, leaving the Master Channel to the studio team.

So before switching off I selected the Super Channel (the second box on the top line), and left the thing to sort itself out.

When I woke up on Sunday afternoon I played it back, and sure enough I got the John & Ben Show. And very good they were too.

Obviously I couldn't use the various options once I had recorded it, and a warning is also necessary if you choose to watch the repeats after the race.

The repeats don't have the multi-view option (which I thoroughly enjoyed during all the practices and the qualifying).

Great production though, and well worth the £12 charge. The real value will emerge when they get back to Europe.

I hope what I have said is correct - someone please tell me if I'm wrong!

A bit off the topic but has any seen the Motor TV channel? its a couple before F1+ on Sky. I noticed it last night but it only had Nascar type stuff on at the time.

Got his from the ITV F1 website (not the F1 news), made me chuckle so I thought I'd share it with yo all:

And finally, still at Jaguar, there are red faces all round after it was revealed that hackers breached their security in Valencia and interfered with the pits to car telemetry. It wasn’t the fact that the hackers got past their firewalls that irritated the Jaguar management, it was the fact that they could make the car two seconds quicker…
