National Trust Working Holidays

Being a single chap in his early 30's I'm struggling for short holiday ideas. The beer fuelled outings of the past are now dead and buried now that most of my friends are married with kids! I've stumbled across the National Trust Working holidays which look quite interesting. Has anyone ever tried these? Good fun? Suitable for a single bloke (or to put it another way, would I be spending my holiday with young children or married couples, or is there a good mix)?

I had a look on the site and a lot of them appear to be book already. They must be quite popular!
