From Planet F1
A source close to former F1 driver Eddie Irvine has spoken out in defence of the Ulsterman, saying that he didn't even know he was meant to appear in court.

A warrant was issued for Irvine's arrest on Wednesday after he failed to appear in a British court for his sentencing regarding a speeding offence. Irvine was caught on his scooter going 30 mph over the speed limit at Hyde Park in July, and failed to appear before the court to face the charge. He later failed to appear for his sentencing, forcing the court to issue the warrant.

However, according to a source, Irvine didn't know about his court appearances, as he has not been near the house in Ireland that the summons was sent to.

"It appears the summons was sent to one of the houses Eddie owns in Northern Ireland and he hasn't been to that one for almost a year," the source told The Sun.

"His mother and father often visit the house but have spent the last eight months on a world tour. Eddie spends 90 per cent of his time in either Milan or Miami. The first he knew about it was when he saw his picture being flashed up on TV."

Eddie obviously couldn't afford to pay for a postal redirection order.

I vagually recall a TV interview...where I think it was mentioned that Eddie owns 44 houses. Presumably he has people to look after them....so must just be an oversight

So his excuse is that either;
a) he provided useless/wrong address details when stopped, or
b) his vehicle is NOT registered at his normal address.

Surely either of these will do him no favours in court?!?
