I must say that is possibly the most comical race I have ever watched...

The supposed best drivers in the world and they can't get round the first corner.

Arrows can't even get the cars going. My car is 13yrs old and starts first time every time (touch wood)

Trulli's accident down to the electronics failing....

It has reached truly pethetic proportions now, when the start is soooooo critical that they inevitbaly crash and the only thing the drivers do is switch on the accelerator and then switch on the brakes at the right points. Oh yeh, nearly forgot...they steer aswell. The cars do the downshifting, stop the brakes locking and then control the traction out of the corners ! They may aswell race Scalextric cars !!

I'm glad they didn't red flag it. If you crash during the race you don't get a spare car to have another go in. The start is part of the race and therefor if you screw it up, even if it is red flagged you shouldn't get another chance.

I know it has been said a million times before, but the sport has really lost the plot these days. I've never been to see it, although I was brought up in a dedicated F1 supporting household and my father used to go religiously for the whole weekend. He thinks it crap these days, rubbish.

Go bike racing, its a million times better...I will continue to watch the highlights, its just so funny !!

Rant over !

Cheers

Mark, it has become a tad boring now, I used to love it in the early 90's

I do wonder when the FIA will eventually bring in the "No Overtaking" rule

Don't watch it any more...it's too processional....as you say ..just like sclextric.Normally the first through the first corner is your winner.

Totally agree with u johno, the WSB and BSB is much more exciting and interesting,Its completely lost the plot.
Its a shame they dont show more of other racing on the box as i am sure this would pull in more punters than that load of drivel

esselte - can tell you don't watch it anymore - it was a good race. How many cars do you need to make a race - 2. OK - the winner was predictable, but there were little scraps throughout the field.

I generally think F1 is boring these days, but still watch it (better than washing up etc) so its good when you do see a good one.

GT racing is so much better though.

Speaking of scalextric - are there any collectors out there? Anyone needing a LOT of cars and track?

Agree with zebedee - GT racing is fun to watch.

Because they run the two classes of GT together, the more powerful cars have to carve their way through the rest of traffic. Overtaking is happening all the time - you bet it's exciting to watch.

Have to agree. I used to be a real F1 fan (up at 2.00am for australia etc.) but with traction control and too much aerodynaimcs the racing is just boring.

Watch WSB, BSB and WRC for more exciting riding/driving and racing. Its about time that F1 realised this and started taking off wings, and traction conmtrol so we get back to proper racing. (too much money involved I think)

Don't get me started on F1. Watched the Qualifying!! Utter b*ll*ks! No, sorry I watched the Re-run of the qualifying!! I like my bed too much!! Decided to miss the race, haven't even seen the highlights!!
It just bores me to death. I saw some of the re-run in Argos, The director was following Raikonen or whatever he's called!!! BORING! get down the field, to the 12th/13th sort of positions, where the cars are swapping gearbox oil and rear wings!!! Thats where the good racing is! The cars or so close performance and aero wise, that it really is all down to the driver, but everyone is sooo hung up on Schumey and Ferrari and the McLarens, that everyone forgets about them!! Schumey IS a good driver, but all he has to do especially in last years car, is floor it and he's gone!!!
Schumey is the sort of driver I would like to see in GT's and at Le Mans!!! Now that would be entertaining!!

I'm going to the Malaysian Grand Prix in a couple of weeks so I hope it is as much fun as last year's race where one half of the circuit was a swimming pool and the other half was bone dry in blistering heat (I was in the grandstand on the wet half, watching the cars spin-off right in front of me). I have to agree that generally Grand Prixs are fairly boring these days. They should increase mechanical grip (big fat sticky tyres) and ban aerodynamics, this would lead to decent overtaking opportunities.

The only people that think F1 isn't boring are ITV, and people who are in it. Compared to BSB or WSB its dull dull dull. In one race alone of BSB you get more overtaking and close racing than you do in a whole season of F1. Don't forget I was a BIG fan but traction control and aerodynamicsa and clever electronics have ruined it. Now a car behind another is SLOWER there is practically no drafting effect making it harder to overtake, also the field just keeps spreading out.

Ask youself this question when was the last time you saw a three way battle for the lead on the last corner and the winner took it by half a wheel length? THis happens a lot in bike racing and could happen in car racing. Caterham 7's are a classic example of close racing, as are the various formula ford/vaxhauls etc.

F1 needs to take a step back and have a long look at itself. Its suposed to be an entertainment industry and I'm sorry one corner (the first one) and whether or not a car is going to break down is not exciting.

Have a nice day

If the BBC ran any one of the seasons from the 50's again, I reckon the viewing figures would be massive. Show a race a week with all the usual background blah.
The racing was amazng and the characters made the sport more interesting off the track

F1 today is rather too full of Germanic robots sitting in computerised multi-million pound rockets that are surrounded in so much secrecy, we don't even get to se what makes them special.
F1 maintains a viewing base because of the glamour and 'hype' off the track - I am guilty of watching F1 for those reasons.

IMHO, there is a place among the race stewards for an 'entertainment officer.' He would, for example, be able to stop the race rather than pulling out the pace car when half the field is destroyed by Germanic Robot 2. He could prevent cars involved in a decent race being given stop go penalties for minor offences.

Just an idea. Sorry for blahing on...

Get Eurosport. Watch bike Grand Prixs. More overtaking and actual RACING in a couple of laps than a whole season of F1. Some of last season's races literally had me bouncing on the edge of the sofa shouting at the TV

Steve

ps Who did that Louise Goodman sleep with to get the ITV job? As my late Grandmother used to say "she talks like a ha'penny book"

F1 is totally irrelevant and tedious to watch, as said before like scalecrtics round and round. The GT races are much more like it - cars you can relate to with much more dicing.
