Drive a car and park! not too difficult!

If the flight leaves at 0730 then you'll probably want to be there by 6 at the latest really, and ideally earlier. As such I'd stay in a hotel overnight before unless you live real near...

Fox had a thread on this going:

No cars, no Taxis.. What on earth are you trying to do? How far from Heathrow are you?

So you will spend cash on hotel, but NOT a taxi?

You should just go the day before (latest possible journey) and take a small sleeping bag.

if i was going to do that i would look at the other flights not from heathrow and not wanting to spend a lot due to it being a 4 day trip

So you booked a flight at 6 in the morning, but don't want to pay for a taxi/train, etc? You'll pay for a hotel at the airport, but how, pray tell, are you going to get to the hotel? Regardless of hotels, and airports, how on earth do you think you will get to the airport? Surely if you can afford a room for the night, you can afford to get a taxi at 3 in the morning to heathrow, or cathc a train there? I don't get what you are asking for to be honest.

I know you have said you want to keep costs down (and fair enough smile ) but your options are either get a cab or book a room that includes free parking for X amount of days or can you not get some one to drop you off ?

Your need to be there a min of 2hrs before check in btw

Get the bus, you lazy sod biggrin

You can get from CC to Marble Arch, then to Paddington, then the Heathrow Express.

Just over an hour and costs you less than 20 quid.

How long have you lived in London? hehe

I had to get a flight around that time.

I was staying near Oxford Circus(Bolsover St).

Taxi to paddington station (6 quid or so, not much whatever it was) then heathrow Express. Made it with a ton of time

Not that hard

sorry not made it clear.... the lovely OH has done the trip many times and swears there was no way to get to terminal 1-3 at that time in the morning (6am) but normal means and would mean me getting the last tube and putting up with several hours wait at the terminal before the flight (she takes buses everywhere i dont).

since found out the following:

Clapham North Station
Take the Route Bus N155 from Stop: C
towards Aldwych

05:01 Trafalgar Square/Charing Cross
Take the Route Bus N15 from Stop: H
towards Paddington Basin
or Route Bus 23 from Stop: H
towards Westbourne Park Bus Garage

Paddington National Rail Stn
Take the Heathrow Express towards Heathrow Terminal 5

now off to poke fun at her for the amount of times she has slept in the airport due to early flights

I'm still stunned that you won't take a taxi.

Same here. At that time in the morning I'd either book a taxi both ways or drive.

If you book in advance (on baa.com) you can book the short stay at a sensible enough price to make it worthwhile...usually £10-£15/day. Still not cheap but the fact you can be in your car a couple of minutes after leaving security is better than waiting ten minutes for a bus to long stay.

do drive, but no car as im in london.

last time i resorted to taxis, it was circa £20-30, so £50 for the taxis is not really a cheap deal, its not like i need it when buses and express is around, plus I only have an overnight bag for the 3nights im there

do you know how much the heathrow express is? By the time you've fannied (sp?) around with buses and the h'row express I'm almost certain that your wasted time and the cost of bus and train will be far in excess of the 30 quid a mini-cab will charge to go to heathrow...
