MTBW?

Prompted by incredulous questions from my friends as to my habits, I wondered what the average time between car washes - MTBW - for PistonHeaders was.

I reckon mine is about two weeks but I'm sure we can rely on PetrolTed to wreck the statistics, although reliable sources tell me that even his pride and joy appears to have seen a sponge recently

I did consider washing the Griff today but that would involve fixing the hose which would mean looking for something in the garage. I'd then be shamed into washing the Saab. The Griff would be grubby again by the time I got to work tomorrow so it's not worth it.

So thats about 4 weeks.

The bike gets washed after every ride, and the van when i can no longer see it with out zapping it to make the indicators flash so i can find it

Cheeky bugger! Amazing how many people comment on the car when it's clean... Had everything from 'Nice car mister' from a 10 year old kid to 'Big up to your motor' from a pi$$ed up teen staggering out of the pub. Is that a good advert for Zymol?

Ill wash mine every week in the summer to get the flies off the bonnet and up to 4 times to wash the durt off it in the winter so I can see where im going (sometimes )

Depends on the time of year.

In winter because you know it's going to rain later today or tomorrow so what's the point? In practice about every 4 weeks when I can't stand how filthy it looks.

In summer, it gets covered in dead flies and a film of road dirt. But since I'd rather drive it than wash it, it's still probably about every 3-4 weeks...

Exceptions: track days. Wash before so you arrive looking good. Again the day after to get the brake dust off the wheels and grass stains off the bodywork

I prefer the natural look of big globs and streaks of mud. It hides the rust anyway...

My car gets washed when the windows are so dirty that the remote central locking stops working!

I clean the windows and lights daily in bad weather or weekly in good weather. The bodywork stays dirty, the car is less likely to be stolen if dirty!
