Anyone noticed a distinct increase in tyre wear recently, I have a 55 plate Touareg with 84k on the clock and the first three sets of tyres (Pirelli 275/45/19) lasted the first 75k, roughly 25k per set, Pirelli on instruction from Porsche/VW/Audi changed the rating of the tyre from "N0" to "N1" for better adhesive apparently but now this set is near replacement in just 10k? At £640 a set this is no laughing matter. Have asked VW why - still waiting on an answer!

Logic would suggest that better adhesive = more grip, which then of course means higher wear rate. Might get better mileage out of a different brand of tyre?

the Pirellis on my A6 were rubbish in terms of wear, Dunlops much better. Also the Pirellis were scary in the wet particularly when half worn ie 10k miles onwards. Dunlops lasted 28k miles and only got scary for the last 2000 miles. Tyres were changed on the legal limit as shown by the wear indicators
