Hello All.

Just had a call from my Dad who has just crossed the Millau Bridge.

He's in a 2001 RS4 and whilst the car was ''running perfectly'' the engine management light came on on the dash.

He suspects this might have been because he was at an altitude of 3500 ft in central France and running on 95 Octane unleaded.

As he descended off of the central 'plateau' the light has now gone out and not being able to contact a UK Audi specialist, I thought I would ask the pH populus.

What do you all think? Is the altitude/fuel combo a likely cause of the temporary illumination of the engine management light?

He arrived in Perpignon now so no major panic, but he wants some re-assurance, as I guess we all would!

Many thanks in advance - Nico.

at that hight and on 95 i would guess the car thinks its being suffocated,
ask him if he can find better fuel total 97 or v power shell if he's going to cross it again and see if it happens again.

If he can find someone with Vag-com to give the car a scan to see if the error has logged, im in kent but im sure someone on here is more local to you and has vag-com
