Calmac ferry to Islay in a T350

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has experience of the ferry crossing to Islay and if it was TVR friendly given the ground clearance at the front in a T350?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Hi, used plenty calmac ferries and they usually have some planks of wood to help the angle from ferry slip to ferry, but havent used that one, soz. Try giving them a ring, they are usually quite helpful. Hope that helps, cheers.

I've done large parts of the Western Isles in a 3 door Sierra Cosworth (including Oban to Islay) and the only places I had problems were on the (Arran) Ardrossan to Brodick crossing, where the ramp operator frowned at the car and fiddled with the hydraulics to get the ramp more level, and I couldn't get over the "blisters" welded to the deck where they chain the artics down in rough weather, so I had to be careful where they went under the car, and on the Islay - Jura crossing, which was a landing craft style ferry where you reversed on and drove off. I had to do it the other way round because the tailpipe caught on the ramp edge.

(Oh, and the old lady in Tarbert, Argyll, who grabbed hold of the whale tail, vigorously shook it and announced to her mates that she "didn't like this bit"! It also drew a crowd in Campbeltown, so I imagine a TVR will do the same.)
