Canon DSLR lenses
Discussion
Hi all
I currently have a Canon Ixus 700 and looking to upgrade to a DSLR.
I also have an old Canon EOS500 SLR from late 90's with two A/F lenses - one Canon and a Tamron.
My line of thinking is, can I just buy a Canon body (Dxx or whatever) and use my existing lenses or do these new cameras have different mounts/other technology that prevents me from using my existing lenses.
I'd do a search as I'm sure the question will have been asked, but shut for maintenance.
Thanks
Nick

Should work fine. Same mount, same lenses. The only thing that has changed in recent years is that the motors have got faster, but you have to be seriously into photography to even notice that.
Not sure if you will be photographing motorsport, but the 40D is a stunning camera (6.5 frames per second). I have a 40D, and the 350D, but the 40D is superb for the price.
If your lens works on the 50D, then it'll work on the 40D (50D replaced the 40D, but is £220 more expensive).
Camerapricebuster is great for comparing prices, the 40D is currently retailing at around £590.
